Position Description

The Resident Services team is excited to announce their SHE’s Summer Internship Program for 2026. As a Resident Services Intern, you won’t just observe, you’ll actively support programs that strengthen affordable housing communities and improve the quality of life for residents. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful work that supports real people in real neighborhoods.

Internship Objectives

The primary objective of this internship is to provide the intern with practical experience in resident services while expanding the department’s capacity to support affordable housing communities. Through direct involvement in programs, site visits, and administrative support, the intern will gain insight into how resident-focused services contribute to housing stability and quality of life.

Duration

The internship will run for 10 weeks in the summer, from June to August. Start and end dates are flexible based on the intern’s availability.

Learning Outcome and Opportunities

Through this internship, the intern will develop:

  • Experience working directly with residents in affordable housing communities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of resident services, community engagement, and housing programs
  • Skills in data collection, analysis, and program evaluation
  • Professional experience working within a multidisciplinary team

Department Support & Supervision:

The intern will report to the Resident Services Manager and be supported by a team of four Housing Specialists and one Community Builder. The department offers a collaborative environment with diverse projects, ensuring a fulfilling and educational internship experience through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to multiple aspects of resident services work.


Key Responsibilities

Resident Engagement & Site Support:

  • Participate in site visits to multifamily housing communities
  • Engage with residents and property management staff
  • Assist with planning and facilitating resident meetings and community activities

Program Support – After School Program:

  • Assist with building and maintaining an after-school program database
  • Support curriculum development and organization
  • Provide coordination and administrative support to program staff

Must Haves

  • Eager to learn about and gain experience in affordable housing and community development.
  • Passionate about serving people and improving the lives of those in our community.
  • Comfortable engaging with participants and partners in our service area.
  • High School diploma or GED, or related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A letter of recommendation from a mentor, educator, or manager who can attest to your strengths in a professional or academic setting (to be submitted with the application)
